Wikip Hop: Canada Fund For Africa

I really like hip hop. So, I decided to write and record a hip hop track inspired by a random Wikipedia article. Recorded in GarageBand, I chose one of my favorite beats, “Time: The Donut Of The Heart,” from the late, great J Dilla‘s masterpiece Donuts.

Lyrics after the jump.

We was just sittin’ round, sippin’ shots of sizzurp
Royal Canadian Mounties boxed in by a blizzard
Inferior interiors, we’re useless, homie
Power play against our way, opponents ruthless, homie
Until a fateful idea, fa, fateful idea
We don’t need lots of instructions we ain’t tryin’ ta Ikea
I told it to my boss, he said “You know that I feel ya, eh?
Get on the radio station and tell the nation, eh”
Plus on the track, I’m tailin’ lots of feedback
The mayors of Ontario are sayin’ “We got your racks”
That’s financial support, I purport, it’s got stamina
Laminated “Canada Fund For Africa”
Posters on the wall, Mandela on the call
Guess my hoser accent no longer funny to y’all
Got a hashtag going, a trending topic
All the way from the Bay, to the Southern Tropics, yeah
WE ON THAT CANADA FUND FOR AFRICA
TRYIN’ TO SUPPORT THE WORLD IS OUR PLAN FOR YA
WE ON THAT CANADA FUND FOR AFRICA
TRYIN’ TO SUPPORT THE WORLD
Unfurled, my flow goes globaller than world atlases
Spending all these Loonies, trying to support Africans
I know the Great White North is a laughingstock
Let’s not debate why our shores keep our doors unlocked
Just  tryin’ to make mine yours, I ain’t asking much
Just trying to make a lil difference, G
Just trying to steal a base; God, I’m coppin’ Lil B
Some people in this world don’t have the things of you or me
Canada Fund for Africa, just a humble Mountie

Pretty hard to hate on anything that has a Dilla beat on it. Props for having the courage to release a song on the internet. I know I wouldn’t.
